T-shirts are more than just a fashion statement—they’re powerful tools for advocacy, fundraising, and community building. Every time someone puts on a shirt with a meaningful slogan or design, they become a walking billboard. Whether it’s raising awareness for mental health, promoting environmental sustainability, or supporting a local nonprofit, t-shirts allow individuals to wear their values and start conversations without saying a word. These wearable messages can challenge perspectives, invite dialogue, and inspire action in ways that are both personal and public. Matching t-shirts help create a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. They can boost morale, foster connection, and visually represent solidarity.
In this Shirts for Change blog we’ll highlight Albany Pride. Founded in 2017 by Keith Kolkow, Albany Pride has grown from a modest gathering to a significant event in the Willamette Valley. This event creates opportunities for members of the local LGBTQ+ community to connect and celebrate their identities. This year’s pride event will take place July 26th, 2025, at the Monteith River Park in Albany, Oregon. From live performances, family friendly activities, vendor booths, food trucks, and a march throughout downtown. This is more than just an annual event but rather a community focused event.
Each year, a specially designed commemorative shirt by No Dinx is created to celebrate this meaningful event. Proceeds from the event directly benefit local community organizations, helping to foster support and inclusion throughout Albany. In 2024, funds went to providing scholarships through Albany Public Schools Foundation and supporting youth programs at Jackson Street Youth Services. This event is not only a celebration of pride and community, but also a powerful force for positive change.
